After digging around on the web for a few days I encountered several interesting links on Open Source Project Management software. I captured them here for future reference.

  • Top 10 Open Source Web-Based Project Management Software – This list of products runs of various platforms including Ruby, Python and PHP. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Simple PHP Bug/Issue Tracker – This post listed a number of PHP issue trackers. The comments are also helpful in providing some additional choices.
  • phpCollab – One of the comments on the Asympotomatic post above said that phpCollab was great, but was an abandoned project. When I followed the link provided I discovered that it was very much alive and version 3 is under active development. It has a clean, nice looking interface and really seems like it would be worth a try. I plan to give it a try.
  • The Bug Genie – This seems to be the most straight forward, simple and visually appealing issue tracker written in PHP that is currently in active development.

Update: phpCollab was easy to install and seemed adequate, but the UI was not what I was looking for. There are some screen shots of the new 3.0 version that merit a second look. I may reinstall or update when the newer version is released.
